Nico Dockx

Nico Dockx (°1974, Antwerp) is an artist, writer, curator, publisher, and researcher working out of a fundamental and an ever curious preoccupation with living archives. His interventions, publications, sounds, texts, images, lectures, performances, and conversations which are often the result of close interactions with colleagues, investigate the relationship between perception and remembrance, allowing multiple interpretations and translations to emerge. Nico Dockx has been awarded a DAAD grant (2005), the Ars Viva price (2007), and Prix de la Jeune Peinture Belge- prix Emile & Stephy Langui (2009) together with Helena Sidiropoulos. Dockx has exhibited in numerous national and international shows. Currently Nico Dockx is doing a PhD research on the art of conversation at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp in collaboration with Louwrien Wijers. Additionally he is co-founder of an experimental pedagogical structure Extra Academy, he teaches master classes and develops various projects in collaboration with the students at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp. He is visiting guest professor at various international art academies. He is represented by Lightmachine Agency Ghent and galerie Esther Donatz Munich.
